In March 2022, Athennian attended our first in-person conference in over two years. Attended by thousands of industry leaders, the event explored topics, strategies, and trends circulating the legal landscape.
If you weren’t able to make the event, not to worry! We’ve recapped some of the highlights below.
A prominent theme at the conference was the advancement of legal technology, and within that: the fear of automation. In Catherine Casey’s ted-style talk, “Becoming Ironman – Thriving in a post-AI World,” she discussed the fundamental need for technology. Still, she assuaged the audience’s fears about a tech-dominated legal landscape.
Using the metaphor of Ironman vs. the Terminator, she urged legal professionals to embrace technology as Ironman does––with tech serving as an asset that needs to be applied, controlled, and maneuvered by a human (i.e., Tony Stark.) Legal professionals need not worry that their fate will resemble the Terminator, who uses futuristic fully-autonomous machines.
With the rise of automation and AI, it’s no wonder another critical topic at the forefront of legal professionals’ minds was: How to leverage technology partners properly.
In Karen Tuschak’s (CEO Spidersilk Solutions) speaking session, “Achieving Success with your Technology Partners,” she discussed best practices for finding effective ways of working with technology vendors to ensure profitability and productivity.
