In the last quarter of 2020, Athennian evaluated its diversity, equity, and inclusion plan and took considerable steps to further drive progress as a company. These efforts proved extremely fruitful, and Athennian is proud to announce that we achieved gender parity on our Board of Directors, implemented women representation at every level of the company, and are taking strides to achieve gender parity in technical roles and management.
Another huge milestone for Athennian was that our team grew 52% in the past year––with new hires hailing from every corner of North America. In addition to our two offices in Calgary and Toronto, we now have a globally diverse workforce that spans five Canadian provinces, five US states, and counting.
Though other industries saw an unprecedented uptick in remote working in the last two years, many in the tech industry have been operating with a partial work-from-home model for quite some time. In a 2016 report published by Gallup, results found that 57% of employees in computer/information systems were already working remotely. However, the increasing normalcy of home offices and Zoom meetings has played a vital role in Athennian’s internal expansion.
With the remote model, Athennians thrive. Despite our team being stretched across five time zones, our collaborative and ambitious culture prevails through weekly company-wide meetings, virtual introductions, and a full social calendar of activities that unite the entire team.
