Illustrations

Illustration is a important element in Athennian’s brand toolkit. It has the ability to clarify complex ideas or evoke emotions. To communicate concepts instantly or narrate a layered story. To complement a message or serve as a central focus. This cohesive illustration system ensures that every visual aligns with Athennian's visual principles and brand personality, no matter the purpose or platform.  For illustration kit to build your own illustrations please visit this folder.

Core Design Principles

  • Line Style: The outline is the foundation of Athennian's illustration style. Ensure that all outlines within asingle illustration maintain a consistent weight and always use rounded tips for smooth, cohesive visuals.
  • Primary Shapes: Emphasize geometric shapes and abstract elements to create a modern and cleanaesthetic. Avoid using rounded corners unless the base shape inherently requires it (e.g., circles, clocks, people or other naturally rounded forms).
  • Proportion: Maintain a balanced composition between human figures and abstract elements, ensuringharmony and visual clarity in every illustration.
  • White Space: Prioritize an uncluttered design with ample white space, creating a spacious and breathablelayout that enhances focus and readability.

Decorative Elements

We do not require specific shapes as long as they are geometric. Circles, squares, waves, dots, or any other geometric forms can be used freely, as long as they align with the overall visual style and maintain consistency across the illustrations.

Icons and Symbols

  • Common Icons: Use digital-related symbols. Example: folders, documents, screens etc.
  • Style Consistency: Icons should follow the same thickness, color, and simplicity as the main illustrations.
  • Size & Scale: Icons should complement the overall illustration, neither overpowering nor too small.

Hoot Mascot

The "Hoot" mascot was developed as a key visual differentiator for Athennian, embodying wisdom, knowledge sharing, and approachability. The character design is based on the owl, a traditional symbol of wisdom, and was carefully crafted to create a warm, professional, yet friendly connection with the audience.

"Hoot" is designed with a humanized appearance, making it relatable and approachable. The mascot wears a tailored suit, symbolizing professionalism and trust, while the oversized glasses and book emphasize knowledge and expertise. The character's soft, rounded shapes, combined with a palette of calming blues and warm accents, make "Hoot" visually appealing without being overly formal.
